Yuri Honing Wired Paradise For years saxophonist Yuri Honing has been considered one of the main representatives of European jazz, a/o as a result of his successful Yuri Honing Trio (Tony Overwater: bass, Joost Lijbaart: drums). With Yuri Honing Wired Paradise, Honing sets a new goal in his yet impressive career. Two important influences determine the new sound: harmony and electricity, presented by the remarkable guitarist Frank Möbus (Der Rote Bereich). At the instance of Honing, Tony Overwater has added ‘electricity’ to his art as well. Many plugs, cords and pedals introduce new forms of expression on top of the passionate playing of this acclaimed bass player. Joost Lijbaart, friend through thick and thin, is Honing’s indispensable rhythmic alter ego, the driving power on the one hand, and on the other hand the ever-alert sparring partner. In summer of 2006 Dutch guitarist Paul Jan Bakker also set foot into Paradise, as second guitarist - next to Frank Möbus. Paul Jan is well known for his work with Dutch pop groups and artists such as Kane and Anouk, and the new successful rock band Seven. Bakker’s rock sound has brought the final touch to Yuri Honing Wired Paradise. |
Yuri Honing Wired Paradise reviewed ***** Five star review: it’s the sovereign combinations of jazz, pop, avantgarde and world influences, that make this recording one of the most exciting sessions in years ***** Five star review: the quartet mixes an extraordinary cocktail (Stereo, Germany) It's breath-taking how beautiful some bands can sound I never knew one could ‘funk’ so beautifully slowly (....) not to be compared with anything (Jazzthing, Germany) The remarkable thing about Temptation are the atmosphere and the influences, that so far have not existed yet in this combination and that make the music really unique (.....) for everyone to enjoy The more you listen to Wired Paradise, the more you discover
